The Shockers are a squad that these Wildcats should beat convincingly. He’s gotten the Shockers off to an 8-3 start, just like the Wildcats, But their best wins are over old Missouri Valley foes Saint Louis and Southern Illinois, however WSU did fall to South Dakota State 79-69 at Koch Arena just a couple weeks ago, a team K-State beat 91-68 in Bramlage earlier this season.
Paul Mills is now at the helm in Wichita after a very successful run at Oral Roberts. The Shockers look far different than the team that came into Bramlage last year and couldn’t hold off a furious Kansas State comeback to fall 55-50 the evening after the Wildcats football squad captured their third Big 12 title. But at least there’s nowhere to go but up from here, and that starts tonight against Wichita State in the 12th Wildcat Classic. A loss at home is never a good thing, but it’s doubtful that Jerome Tang expected his first non-conference home loss to come in quite so ugly a fashion.
