The organization is now collaborating with the Illinois Department of Humans Services (IDHS) to promote their 'Are You Really Winning?' campaign. 'You can bet on anything you ever wanted to online.'Īccording to a study by Health Resources in Action (HRiA), 400,000 of Illinois residents have a gambling disorder, and another 700,000 are at risk of developing a gambling disorder. 'Now you can sit in your room play on slots, on video, bet on sports,' Kiley said. Kiley explained how he sees more residents falling victim based on companies making it easier to place bets during the pandemic. 'As you increase access, you could increase use,' Kiley said.
Kerric Kiley, president and director of Alpha Omega Counseling Services, said gambling itself is a not problem, but he sees it being an issue for some people with a close venue providing more options later this month.
